Two-speed electric motors are divided into two categories: single-phase and three-phase:
two-speed single-phase motor
Dalander single-phase motor starts its work with a single-phase alternating current, i.e. one phase and one zero. These single-phase motors are bulky and expensive. Single-phase electric motors consist of two main windings and a starter. The starting coil creates an electric field that is necessary to start and work the electric motor. When the two-speed motor starts working, the starter coil is removed from the circuit.
Two-speed three-phase motor
The overall structure of the two-round, single-phase and three-phase motors is similar; But these electric motors also have differences with each other. Two-speed three-phase electric motor has a smaller size than its single-phase type, but its power and efficiency are higher. In the three-phase two-speed electric motor, there is a difference with a double ratio between the low and high speeds of the motors.
